Wine Bars of Paris

Wine Bars of Paris Chez Georges

Paris is one of the few places in the world where it seems acceptable to socialize taking a bottle of wine and snack instead of going out for a meal. Paris is home to so many wine bars which have a very different look and feel. Some wine bars resemble restaurants more than bars. Since so many wine bars have been opened in Paris they now offer excellent food and modestly priced bottles of wine. Let us look at some of the best wine bars of Paris.

Vivant Table is situated in an area that is rich in history. The current address was previously a shop for selling exotic birds. Other than the beautiful setting of this wine bar, they also serve a variety of dishes. You can enjoy well prepared foie gras and grilled poularde at the Vivant Table. The wine bar is closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

Juvenile's is situated in the heart of Paris. This friendly wine bar is home to some of the best Australian wines in Paris. Other dishes which rarely miss on the menu are like Haggis, cheeses and charcuterie. The wine bar is also famous for serving Rhone Valley wines. The wine bar is closed on Sundays and Mondays during lunch hour. You will pay an average of €40pp, with two glasses of wine.  France Homestyle's Palais Royal rental apartment is within walking distance of Juvenile's wine bar and also close to many of Paris' best places to visit, such as The Louvre and Jardin des Tuileries.

You don’t need to make reservations to visit Le Baron Rouge for a bottle of wine or snack. The store is located at 1, rue Théophile Roussel, in the 12th arrondissement but they are closed on Mondays. The wine bar is easily accessible and is a nice place to mingle and meet new friends.

If you are a fan of Italian wine then Il Vino is the place to visit at 13 Boulevard de la Tour-Maubourg,. It is one of the wine bars of Paris that offer an excellent selection of both French and Italian wine. You can pick your preferred bottle of wine or pair your food by the glass chosen by Enrico Bernardo, voted as the best sommelier in the world in 2004.  Reservations are recommended when visiting this wine bar.

Lavinia is a wine shop with a bar upstairs and a restaurant below. Snacks and variety of wines are served at the bar. Most people visit this wine bar after work and you don’t need to make reservations. Simply select your favorite bottle at the wine shop and take it to the bar upstairs.

When looking for some great food and good wine to go with it, you can visit Les Caves de Prague. This wine bar is situated at the Marché d'Aligre and offers an amazing selection of French wine. They have fewer crowds compared to Le Baron Rouge and equally fine wines.

Le Troquet des Glaces is situated at the 11th arrondissement, the kind of area where only hipsters and mobs are commonly found and everyone else avoids. The wine bar opened a year ago and it offers a breath of fresh air in the area. The bar area is surrounded by mirrors and in case you are in the 11th arrondissement, pop into this amazing wine bar.  Also located in the 11th arrondissement is our two bedroom rental apartment, La Republique, steps away from the lively and popular Marais district.

For a good selection of vintage wine and a convivial atmosphere, visit Le Lèche Vin. The bistro is known to have some good wine collection from well known local wine growers. They play jazz and groove especially in the evenings. Their walls are beautifully covered with pictures of icons. It’s a nice place if you need a cool atmosphere to take a good glass of wine.

If you prefer the wine bars with singing and dancing, then head over to Chez Georges where getting wine splashed on your clothes is part of the charm of this spirted underground “cave” in the basement. The wine bar is frequented by many hip students and has a very energetic crowd often with a line at the door to get in.  It is situated at Saint-Germain-des-Prés and has been around since 1952.  France Homestyle has several apartments near Chez Georges in the St Germain neighborhood, such as Musee Rodin Two Bedroom and Bellchasse One Bedroom Apartment.

If all you want is a casual meal and some great wine, consider visiting Willi’s Wine Bar. The wine bar is owned by Mark Williamson, a renowned Englishman in Paris with a collection of great wine.

You might mistake Les Fines Gueules for an ordinary restaurant, but it is actually one of the best places to find a smart collection of wine in Paris. They have a mini wine bar that serves very unusual yet impressive ingredients. Plus, their food is really amazing.
